Ever wonder what your website would look like Chrétienized?

Hmmm... less than 24 hours till the new year. Damn this one went by fast. I'm not the only one who thinks so. Maybe it was all the hype about the new millenium last year. And yes all you smart-asses I'm aware that since there was no year zero the new millenium doesn't really start till 2001. Oh well, Happy New Year. Be young, have fun, drink.

Alright, alright. So I've only been blogging for a few days now and already I'm lapsing. I shall endeavour to do better in future. Happy?

Well yesterday (well Friday) I went over to attend a familly get-together at one of Kelsey's aunt's in Waterloo. It was fun and all, and it was nice to be invited, but it wasn't quite the warm welcome I've come to expect when I'm introduced to her relatives. Oh they were smiling and very polite, but for most of the people I met, the extent of our conversation didn't go very far past the initial greetings. Then there was her one aunt who tried to convert me to Christianity within five minutes of our meeting. That was interesting. It was nice of her to think of me and all when doling out her Christmas presents, but being Hindu there isn't a whole lot I can do with a book of Psalms and another about Jesus. I was warned about her beforehand though, so throughout her schpiel I just smiled and nodded politely during the conversation before she eventually ran out of things to preach about. Having said all of that, it really doesn't bother me all that much that I'm not universally liked (though I can't imagine why not!). I think the day was more uncomfortable for Kelsey than it was for me. She of course, has to see these people every so often. I probably won't ever see most of them again. It's a good thing I like my relatives.

Got an oil change done. Along with a lube job, filter, and tranny fluid change. All told it cost me about 200 bucks. Ugh... cars are expensive. There goes my Christmas and birthday money...

Um, brrr... Minus twelve today, for the HIGH. Is there something wrong when your freezer's warmer than the outdoors?

I woke up and went downstairs today after having slept in to almost the afternoon. Bleary-eyed and hungry I opened the fridge in search of leftovers, only to have its contents spill out all over me because of the sheer volume of food my mom tried to pack into the confined space. You see, we had most of our relatives living in the GTA come over on Christmas (as you'd know, if I didn't lose my Dec 25th post). And for occasions like that my parents tend to cook a lot of stuff, enough to feed each person four times what they ate. Of course the multitude that doesn't get eaten gets stuffed in the fridge, but it's like trying to pour an entire 26-er into a shot glass. Some of it is going to overflow, and this morning it ended up on me.

Of course my first thought was to curse at my misfortune. My second thought was a little more profound. Here I am swearing at a fridge full of food because the excess has spilled all over me, and at the same time there are those who struggle to put food on their plates, never mind have extra in the fridge. Of course I gave my token amount to charity this year when it was fashionable to do so, but I needed to do something more to alleviate the feeling of guilt gnawing at me.

So I went to my computer and dug out from my recycle bin all of those chain letters I had deleted. You know, the ones that say to forward them on to as many people as you can, and for each email that gets tracked, a few (cents/dollars/pesos) will be donated by (Bill Gates/Jean Cretien/The Pope) to help a little starving boy in (insert random impoverished country). And I did. To everyone in my address book.

I feel better now.

Cool... it seems I've lost a couple of posts. Stupid Blogger. Or stupid me. One of the two.

Well I my birthday (Boxing Day) went well. Spent the afternoon bargain-hunting and then the evening with Kelsey (my girlfriend). Damn... I'm a year older. There really aren't many good birthdays to look forward to anymore. I used to have a permanent grin on my face on my birthday because I could look even further down on my younger siblings for having the audacity to be born after me. Now all I can do is stare at the Fairweather across from the store where I work and think about how a night with one of those girls might cost me some time in prison.

But birthdays are still cool, I guess. Even though because of the shitty timing it gets forgotten by most people, it makes me appreciate even more the people that do remember. Plus I get stuff, which is always good. So I can't complain too much. Well I can, but no one would listen. So, let's see what being 23 has in store for me...

This is my first post. Woohoo!
